Villeurbanne
Artistic Residency - May 20 to June 18, 2019
For this unique artistic residency, the Fédération BTP Rhône et Métropole opened the doors of its headquarters in Villeurbanne to Jakè, a Lyon-based street artist renowned for his colorful murals and vibrant universe. The objective of this initiative was twofold: first, to introduce the world of construction and public works from a new and creative perspective, and second, to offer the artist an original platform for expression by working directly with raw materials from construction sites. A unique dialogue between urban art and the world of construction. For a month, Jakè relocated his studio to the Fédération, transforming bricks, pieces of pipe, paint cans, and other construction elements into true works of art. This approach, inspired by the construction industry and discussions with professionals in the sector, allowed Jakè to explore new forms of expression and bring a unique artistic perspective to materials often perceived as functional and lacking in aesthetics. A temporary exhibition to discover Jakè's work. Visitors were invited to follow the evolution of this "artistic project" until June 18. They were able to discover how Jakè appropriates materials, transforms them, and gives them new life through his characteristic technique, combining Posca and acrylic. His world, recognizable by its organic shapes, bright colors, and the accumulation of symbols from the city and pop culture, created a striking contrast with the industrial construction environment. A presentation evening also took place on Tuesday, June 18, allowing the public to discover all of the creations created by Jakè during his residency. This event provided an opportunity for discussion between the artist, construction professionals, and art lovers, highlighting the success of this encounter between two worlds that don't always intersect. This residency at the Fédération BTP Rhône et Métropole was another opportunity for Jakè to make his mark and surprise the public by exploring new forms of artistic expression.
